The lottery was conducted in the presence of Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal and attended by representatives from major political parties, including BJP\u2019s Rajesh Shirwadkar, Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Kishori Pednekar, MLA Manoj Jamsutkar, and NCP leader Anand Paranjape.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Reservation Breakdown Across 29 Municipal Corporations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Out of the 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, mayoral posts have been reserved as follows:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scheduled Tribe (ST): 1<\/li>\n\n<li>Scheduled Caste (SC): 3 (including 2 women)<\/li>\n\n<li>Other Backward Classes (OBC): 8 (including 4 women)<\/li>\n\n<li>General Category: 17 (including 9 women)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>With the implementation of the 60% women\u2019s reservation, 15 mayoral posts are reserved for women, while 14 remain in the General category.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>MMR Mayoral Reservations Announced<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), mayoral reservations are as follows:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mumbai: General (Woman)<\/li>\n\n<li>Navi Mumbai: General (Woman)<\/li>\n\n<li>Panvel: OBC<\/li>\n\n<li>Thane: SC<\/li>\n\n<li>Ulhasnagar: OBC (General)<\/li>\n\n<li>Kalyan-Dombivali: ST<\/li>\n\n<li>Vasai-Virar: General<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>UBT Alleges Rule Violations, Calls Lottery \u2018Rigged\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator and outgoing Mayor Kishori Pednekar strongly objected to the reservation outcome, alleging that the lottery was conducted in violation of established rules and was \u201cpre-decided.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cFor BMC, the mayoral post has been kept in the General category for two consecutive terms. There has never been an OBC woman mayor in Mumbai. This is a grave injustice to OBCs and STs,\u201d Pednekar said.<\/p>\n\n<p>She alleged that a new rule \u2014 requiring at least three ST corporators to claim an ST reservation \u2014 was introduced deliberately, as only Shiv Sena (UBT) currently has ST corporators in the BMC. \u201cThis rule was neither communicated to political parties nor applied transparently. The lottery was manipulated to suit the ruling party,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>ST Representation Controversy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Pednekar further pointed out that in the current BMC House, only the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) has elected corporators from ST-reserved wards.
