BMC to Distribute 19,000 Tablets to Class IX Students Across Mumbai

The total cost this INR 49.19 crore. That is approximately INR 25.464 per stdent.
  • In a move to boost digital learning, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon distribute 19,317 tablets to Class IX students across its Marathi, Urdu, Hindi, and English medium municipal schools.
  • Each tablet will come with a one-year warranty and four years of maintenance, under a ₹49.19 crore project handled by M/s Skill Tree Consulting Pvt. Ltd. The cost per student is estimated at around ₹25,464.
  • BMC’s Tablet Distribution Scheme, first launched in 2015, aims to bridge the digital gap in education. Earlier, tablets were provided in 2015, 2017-18, and 2021-22, benefitting thousands of students across Mumbai’s civic schools.
