Mumbai: The Bangur Nagar Police have arrested a 29-year-old man, identified as Sunit Chaudhary, who had played minor roles in TV shows, for allegedly stealing motorbikes across the city.
Police said Chaudhary, a resident of Madh, has 14 theft cases registered against him in areas including Amboli, Aarey, Versova, and Vile Parle.
The latest theft took place in the basement of a Malad mall earlier this month. Acting on CCTV and technical inputs, police tracked him down and recovered two stolen bikes.
Investigators revealed that the accused used to wear a helmet and mask during thefts to avoid suspicion and later sold the bikes in Jalgaon, claiming they were previously owned by actors.
The operation was led by Inspector Amit Shitole and Assistant Inspector Sanjay Sarolkar under the supervision of DCP Sandeep Jadhav and Senior Inspector Ravindra Avhad.
